The study included 84 women, aged 18-24, with primary dysmenorrhea. It is a heavy menstrual syndrome which characteristics are: headaches, painful cramps, dizziness, back pain and nausea. Primary dysmenorrhea affects usually young women after 2 years of menstruation. During the other parts of the menstrual cycle, it does not cause pelvic pain.

The women were divided into 2 groups. The first group was given thyme, while the second one Ibuprofen. Although Ibuprofen helped, the first group experienced far better results.
