STOP Using Your Smartphone During the Night! Here Are 3 Reasons Why

Using your smartphone before bed maybe seems normal and perfectly safe. Quick look at tomorrow’s weather, checking your Facebook profile or playing Candy Crush are some of the activities that you are probably doing just before you fall asleep.  Smartphone use increases, but problems s well. One of the serious problems is Cell phone radiation. But unfortunately, it is not the only thing we should worry about. Smartphones are producing “blue light” that has connection to some really serious health issues.

 “Blue light is part of the light spectrum. That means every day we’re exposed to it (like it or not) by the sun. However, exposure during the night  to that light, which is emitted at very high levels by tablets, smartphones, laptops or other LED screens, may be damaging for our eyes and vision. It also disturbs melatonin production. It is a hormone that regulates our body’s natural sleep.”

  1. Eye Damage

The exposure on “Blue light” during the night can cause macular degeneration and can also damage the retina. Losing the central vision or losing the ability to see what is in front of us is the definition for Macular degeneration.

Development of cataract also can have connection to blue light exposure. One doctor has come across 35-year-olds with cataract-affected eyes similar to 75-year-olds. The doctor believes that the root of the problem is smartphone use , but he should do additional research.

As we mentioned above, “blue light” suppresses melatonin production. Melatonin is a hormone that regulates the sleeping cycle of our organism. If you don’t have regular sleep cycle, you cannot get enough of the energy and sleep you actually need. Lack of energy and sleep or irregular sleeping cycles are tightly linked to many health issues like:

 

  • Cardiovascular Problems like Heart Disease
  • Lack of Memory Recall
  • Slower Response Time
  • Aged Skin
  • Depression
  • Weight Gain
  1. Higher Risk of Cancer

Sleeping problems and increased light at night means higher rate of cancer. This is especially true for prostate and breast cancer. Melatonin, “deleted” or stopped by “blue light,” is also an antioxidant which is essential in the natural fight of our body against cancer.

 

In fact, melatonin helps our body fight cancer and “blue light” simply decreases this big production. Using it or checking something from time to time isn’t serious issue, but there are a lot of people who are using their phones for hours and hours at night before going to bed. They do this every day so they end up creating the problems listed above.
