Rosemary Oil Promotes Hair Health, Lowers Stress and More!

Rosemary oil has a lot of health benefits. As people use rosemary in some baking recipes, its smell reminds us of some freshly baked bread. From memory function to hair growth, rosemary oil might be one of the best additions to essential oils collection.

  1. Promotes Hair Health

When applied to the scalp, Rosemary oil can help stimulate hair growth. Many people claim it can also slow graying. It treats dandruff and dry scalp.  The mixture of hops, swertia and rosemary produced the following results:

  • A 22.4% increase in new hair growth
  • An improvement in hair’s ability to resist traction
  • An increase in “rapid” hair growth
  • A reduction of hair loss after shampooing

The International Journal of Neuroscience published a study highlighting this very notion.

They evaluated in the study the cognitive performance of 144 participants subjected to aromatherapy. They discovered the following:

  • “Rosemary produced very significant enhancement of performance for overall quality of memory and secondary memory factors.”
  • It helped people be more alert.
  • Rosemary and Lavender  helped produced a feeling of “contentment” in the volunteers.

Rosemary essential oil can furthermore help treat and prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Psychogeriatrics published a study where they examined the effects of aromatherapy 28 elderly people with dementia. Seventeen of them had in fact Alzheimer’s.

Subjects inhaled the vapor of lemon and rosemary in the morning. Then, they inhaled vapors of orange and lavender in the evening. Various functional assessments were conducted after that. All patients “showed significant improvement in personal orientation.” What is very important, no one experienced any negative side effects.

  1. Liver Detoxification

Rosemary is great at helping your body get rid of harmful toxins. It enhances your body’s bile flow, which is essential for detoxification and fat metabolism. It also reduces plasma liver enzymes.

  1. Gallbladder Function

Rosemary essential oil can promote proper gallbladder function. Enhancing the body’s bile flow also promotes proper peristaltic activity. This boosts nutrient absorption and helps reverse ad well as prevent toxic overload.

There is evidence that rosemary essential oil may help reduce a chemical known as DHT.  And lowering of this chemical is connected to prostate health. In order to promote a healthy prostate, mix 1/2 tsp of carrier oil with 2 drops of rosemary essential oil and rub beneath the genital area.

Rosemary oil has very powerful anti-inflammatory properties.  It has calming affects. Therefore it’s great for helping relieve pain.

Mix 2 drops of peppermint oil, 2 drops of rosemary essential oil and 1 tsp of coconut oil. Then, rub on painful joints and sore muscles.

  1. Relieves Neuralgia and Neuropathy

Pain from damaged nerves can be debilitating. However, you can help relieve it with rosemary oil.

Start with 2 drops of rosemary essential oil.  Add in2 drops of cypress oil and 2 drops of helichrysum oil . Mix together with 1/2 tsp of a carrier oil. Then, rub it on the affected area.

However, the recommendation is not to use rosemary essential oil on children. Try frankincense oil instead. Be sure to consult with your natural healthcare provider.

  1. Oral Health Improvement

Rosemary essential oil is excellent for oral health! It’s a disinfectant, so it can help remedy bad breath. Furthermore, it can prevent gingivitis, plague build-up, cavities, and other dental conditions.

Simply add a drop or two to your toothpaste. You can also make your own toothpaste with baking soda, rosemary essential oil, peppermint oil, and coconut oil.
