Skin tags are small growths or flaps of skin which we can usually find around breasts, neck, underarms, eyes or groin.

These growths are harmless and they appear from skin irritation, friction, obesity or simply from genetics. However, lots of people find them annoying and they simply don’t want them on their body. That’s why people are trying different cosmetics or they visit doctor to burn off or cut off. But, does it really work?

Removal of Skin Tags

Try the following home methods or remedies which are cost-effective. You will remove skin tags with so little effort:

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

This incredibly versatile fermented vinegar is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. It is a great choice for disappearing skin tags.

First, wash and thoroughly dry the area around the tag. Take a cotton ball, apply some apple cider vinegar and put to the bump. You can secure or hold the cotton ball in place for 15 minutes. Repeat this 3 times a day until the skin tag darkens, dries, and eventually falls off.

Avoid using apple cider vinegar to treat skin tags located near the eyes.

  1. Vitamin E Oil

It is powerful antioxidant with very important benefits and properties for skin health. We can apply Vitamin E topically to skin tags.

Use a pure, high-quality liquid Vitamin E which formula is specifically for topical treatment.

Apply the liquid to the skin tag and slowly cover with a bandage. Change the bandage and Vitamin E oil every day after gently cleansing the affected area. Repeat this on daily basis for few weeks or months until the tag is gone.

  1. Tea Tree Oil

Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antibiotic oil, tea tree has been used in medicine for centuries. The purpose is to fix all manner of ailments. It’s particularly effective at treating skin disorders. For several weeks it can remove skin tags with daily application.

Simply soak a Q-tip in tea tree oil. Gently apply it to the skin tag 3 times a day, holding in place for 10 minutes. The purpose of Q-tip is that won’t let the oil come into contact with the skin around the tag. This is very important for those who have sensitive skin. They actually may find undiluted tea tree oil is irritating. Most people, however, won’t have any problem or reaction.

If tea tree oil is causing you irritation, before applying topically, blend it with soothing carrier oil like coconut for example. Be aware this may prolong the treatment time.

  1. Oregano oil for Skin Tags

Oregano oil is a fantastic anti-fungal which can easily offer relief from several skin conditions, including skin tags.

You can make homemade oregano oil if you put fresh oregano to infuse together with olive oil for few weeks, before straining. If you want, dilute oregano essential oil with carrier oil like sweet almond or jojoba .

Apply it directly to your skin tag 3 times a day. Allow to dry before you cover it with a bandage or dressing. Repeat this process daily until the skin tag dries out and falls off.

  1. Iodine

Once a day you can put liquid iodine on skin tags or warts. Some have experience of falling off the skin tags within few days of the initial application!

Iodine is a natural element that can break down our skin cells and “make” them fall off safely. Avoid applying the iodine to the surrounding skin.  You can simply rub a coconut oil barrier onto the healthy skin, with a Q-tip to the tag before you apply the iodine.

  1. Garlic

This stinky herb is a fantastic natural medicine that you should always have around you. It boasts antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.

The juice from a garlic clove can remove warts and skin tags naturally within a few weeks.

Simply crush or press one garlic clove and soak it up with a cotton ball. Apply i to the skin tag before sleeping and cover with a bandage. It will be good to wash it off in the morning to eliminate garlic’s odor!

Repeat the process the next night and then take a two-night break in order to reduce the risk of skin irritation. If you wish, you can alternate the garlic treatment and the more soothing Vitamin E oil treatment.

  1. Dandelion Juice

Although a lot of us see dandelions as garden weeds, they have actually many health uses and benefits.

Dandelions can effectively remove skin tags because of their rich mineral and vitamin content. This may help breaking down and removing excess skin tissue.

Collect fresh dandelion by squeezing the root gently so you can extract its milky sap. Apply three drops to the skin tag three times per day. The tag should be completely gone with just four weeks of continuous application.

  1. Coconut Oil

There are so many reasons to put this tropical oil on your skin.

It contains lauric acid – a powerful anti-microbial, which kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi by dissolving their cellular walls.

Every night before bed put coconut oil into your skin tags, and the tag should greatly reduce, or disappear, within a few short weeks.

Coconut oil also works in the same way to remove warts.

What We Should Not Do?

Avoid picking at the tags or attempting to cut them off. If you do this, you’re increasing your risk of infection or scarring.

If a treatment is causing you skin irritation, pain or bleeding, stop using it. Gentler options, like coconut oil or Vitamin E oil, may be more suitable for those with sensitive skin. Skin tags around the eye or other sensitive area may also require this approach.

Don’t forget that skin tags are harmless, so if simply don’t care, then it’s not necessary to remove them. As with any skin growths, consult your doctor or dermatologist if there is a visible change in their appearance, or they begin to cause you pain.
