How To Identify GMO Products?
By reading the price lookup number or PLU code printed on the sticker you can identify GMO Labeling. You can tell if a product was organically grown, conventionally grown or genetically modified. Conventionally grown veggies and fruits (with pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics, fungicides and/or hormones), have four digits code label. For instance, a banana has label of the code: 4011. Organic fruits and vegetables (produced without synthetic chemicals), have five digits code label, always starting with the number 9. An organic banana would be: 94011. Genetically modified (GMO) vegetables and fruits have five digits code label, starting with the number 8. A genetically modified banana would be: 84011
Note: These tips are very important because more than 80 % of processed foods in the United States currently has “industrial modifications”. Many European countries, including France, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Luxembourg and Italy, have banned the production and sale of GMO products.
