Making white rice at home is hundred times better than buying instant rice that we can find in every supermarket. First of all because it’s really simple to prepare and it takes only 20 minutes. You don’t need to be afraid of cooking white rice again. All you need is:
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon Himalayan salt (depending on your taste you can add different spices like curcuma, red pepper …)
How to prepare?
It’s very important to have good fitting lid for your pan. Put water and salt in the pan and on high heat let it start boil. When it will start boil reduce heat on medium –low heat and add rice. The proportion of rice water is always 1/2. So if you want to cook more, for example 2 cups, you will put previously 4 cups water to boil. You will know if the temperature is good (medium or low depends on stove/cooker) if little steam is visible and is slowly leaking from the lid. If there is a lot of steam coming out, that means that the temperature is very high.
Cook for 20 minutes but REMEMBER: Do not open the lid! Why?
Because the steam inside the pot is what allows white rice to cook like it should (on proper way).
After 20 minutes, remove from heat and check it with fork. Here, if you want, you can add butter over the rice to melt. It’s delicious!
Serve it with chicken steak, vegetable mix or in salad. (While boiling it, you have enough time to prepare fried chicken steak, boiled seafood, mushrooms or if you want vegetarian main dish then you have time also to fry and boil different vegetable that you have in your fridge chopped into cubes!)
If you want to serve it in salad then leave to cool for 15 minutes.
