The survey was conducted on 36 men and women, divided into 3 different groups. The first group ate oat pulp, the second one cereals (cornflakes) and the last group skipped breakfast. They only drank water. The first and the second group consumed only 350 calories in total.

On several occasions in the next 3 hours, the participants had to record their general feeling of satiety. They also gave blood samples in order to monitor their blood sugar and insulin levels. Then they all received the same lunch that they could consume until they finally feel satiety.

It turned out that the least hungry was the group of people who ate oatmeal for breakfast. They ate 31 % fewer calories for lunch than others. Moreover, in those with weight issues, the oat pulp had optimal action precisely. During lunch they consumed even 50 % fewer calories.

The group who ate cornflakes for breakfast felt hungry already after 3 hours, just like the ones who drank only water. For lunch both these groups ate the same number of calories.

What is the reason for this? The respondents ate the same calorific value of oatmeal and corn flakes? It is due to the fact that oatmeal lasts longer in the stomach, while cornflakes causes a sharp rise in blood glucose.

This research is just one in a series that confirm how beneficial oatmeal is to get rid of excess weight. Those 31 and 50 % fewer calories entered after some time will certainly be felt and noticed.

Oats and oats products, like flakes and pulps, are extremely healthy, but also favorable. If you think that you can eat oats pulp only for breakfast, you are wrong.
