6 Months with No Shampoo Experiment and Your Hair Will Shy
Making this simple no shampoo experiment will make your hair shiny! Washing hair on completely natural way, with apple cider vinegar and baking soda was supposed to last only for a month. Now I simply got used to it and can’t stop.
Somebody needs adjustment period but for me there wasn’t. I washed my hair no more than once or twice a week. This is perfect natural solution for all of you who have tick hair. The biggest “adjustment” for me was getting over the smell of salad dressing in the shower! Who would like to smell on apple vinegar once you get out from bath!? Don’t worry at all! It immediately dissipates and there’s no strong or residual odor.
My hair is getting simply healthier by avoiding shampoos. It can go longer between washes because it gets less greasy. I usually go with 4-5 days. It is shiner, softer and less frizzy than before. I can easily get the natural, loose curls I like. Only few drops of coconut oil into my damp hair and there you go!
I really noticed a very big difference after washing with shampoo. My hair was then frizzier and drier, and within only two days it had greasy look. After using shampoo, my scalp was itchier, perhaps because all natural oils were simply stripped away.
It is Zero Waste living. In six months, I’m only halfway through one cardboard box of baking soda and the same jar of vinegar. There are no empty shampoo bottles or conditioner to toss in the recycling bin. Worth to try?
The result will surprise you. Just have a little patient at the beginning.
Here is what you need for No Shampoo Experiment:
Wet your hair. Measure only 2 tbsp baking soda into a 500 mL of glass jar. Fill the jar with water and stir to dissolve nicely the baking soda. Pour over your head and scrub into hair. Rinse well. Then measure 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar into the same jar. Add water, pour gently over the head, and immediately rinse.
This amount is for long hair. If you have short to medium length, then use half of the amounts: 1 tbsp of baking soda and vinegar in only 1 cup of water.
Use a bit more soda next time, if your hair doesn’t seem clean enough once it is dry.
